What are your opening times?

Answer: Our office is open 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 3:00pm Saturday and Sunday. We’re also available 24hrs a day on 0131 552 3289 so don’t hesitate to call at any time, or alternatively use our on-line enquiry form. If you have a specific collection requirement outside our opening hours then just give us a call and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.

What size of vans do you have?

Answer: At Tuff Van Hire we offer 3 principle van sizes. The smallest vans in our fleet are traditional ‘Transit’ sized panel vans; but for those who need that extra bit space our next van is a long wheel base/ high roofed panel van. The largest van in our fleet is a box van with tail lift. Our fleet sizes are shown in detail on our Cheap Van Hire Edinburgh page.

What is included in the Van Hire price?

Answer: The hire price includes full use of the van for the time period booked prior to collecting the van. The hire terms have no mileage restrictions on the vans, and all our fleet come with full AA breakdown cover. The designated driver is insured in the unfortunate event of an accident and the full insurance terms can be seen by clicking here.

Is there a deposit to pay?

Answer: A £100 pre-authorised deposit is required either by debit or credit card prior to the van being released for hire. We pre-authorise the deposit payment using your card at time when the van is collected, this means your bank put a hold on that sum. This sum is then released by your bank pending safe return of the van; this can take between 3 – 6 working days from the end of the period of hire. We’re sorry but we don’t accept cash for the pre-authorised deposits.

Why do I need to pay a pre-authorised deposit?

Answer: A deposit is taken from all customers to cover the cost of an additional days hire, to cover Tuff Van Hire in the event that you return the van late and we cannot fulfil our obligations to other customers. Note; the pre-authorised deposit is different that the insurance excess the hirer is liable in the unfortunate event of an accident or damage caused while the van is out on hire.

What documents do I need to bring to hire a van?

Answer: When you collect your van you need to bring the following documents: a DVLA photo card driving license. We also require ‘proof of address’ from the following: Council Tax statement, utility bill, bank or credit card statement, dated within the last eight weeks. Further information can be found here.
